MLB prospects games schedule: How to watch Jackson Holliday, others in new 2024 spring training showcase

Baseball fans love to watch top prospects make their MLB debuts, but what if those fans don’t have to wait?

Spring training is already a chance for fans to get a glimpse of the future, as minor leaguers and major leaguers intermix on the fields in Arizona and Florida. This season, Major League Baseball is taking that a step further.

Starting Thursday, MLB will roll out the Spring Breakout, which is a three-day span of games that will feature lineups and pitching staffs completely made up of each team’s top prospects. Twelve of the games will operate as a traditional doubleheader, with the other rosters playing another game either before or after the prospect game.

Hoping to watch the top prospects in the game face off during spring training? Here’s all you need to know to watch the series.

What is the MLB Spring Breakout?

Ever watch the All-Star Futures Game? Think of this as the Futures Game spread out over a few days and sorted out by organization.

MLB is putting together a series in spring training that will feature the top prospects from each team all on the same roster playing in a week-long MLB slate.

Between the two spring training leagues, the Grapefruit and Cactus League, there will be 16 collective games played that will feature each farm system. The only teams that will play twice will be the Reds and Cardinals.

How to watch MLB Spring Breakout games

Fans will be able to watch all but two of the 16 Spring Breakout games live.

All games will be carried by some form of MLB Digital Platforms (MLBD) such as MLB.TV, while ESPN+ will carry 12 of them and some will also be broadcast on local sports channels. MLB Network will also carry a handful of the games throughout the three-day schedule.

In addition to its individual game broadcasts, ESPN+ will stream “Spring Breakout Squeeze Play”, a whiparound show hosted by Dani Wexelman and Kiley McDaniel, from 3 p.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Games on MLB Network and local networks can be streamed live on Fubo TV, which offers a free trial.
