Finland betting news: Finns enjoying roller-coaster ride at 2024 World Juniors

Finland outlasted Slovakia, 4-3, in overtime in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round. Finnish captain Jere Lassila tallied the game winner just 24 seconds into the extra session. Lassila leads the team with three goals and seven points. Kasper Halttunen, Lenni Hameenaho and Kasper Halttunen are also scoring threats for Finland.

It’s been an up-and-down ride for Finland, which lost a 5-2 decision to Canada in the opening round. Finland became in danger of relegation after a 4-3 loss to Germany. The Finns then bounced back with wins over Latvia and pre-tournament favorite Sweden.

Finland now faces a tough task against Team USA, and it needs a big game from goalie Niklas Kokko to have a chance at the upset. The Seattle Kraken prospect has seen the majority of action in net with a 1-2 record and a 3.37 goals against average.

Kokko made 27 saves to help Finland slip past favored Slovakia in the quarterfinals.

Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson and Devils prospect Seamus Casey are Team USA’s top defensemen. Jacob Fowler (Boston College) is likely to get the start in net. He registered 23 saves in the quarterfinal win over Latvia.
