Best NHL prop bets tonight: Alexander Ovechkin, Jack Eichel highlight top parlay picks for Panthers-Capitals, Kings-Golden Knights

As the weather gets colder, more people start to feel under it. The season of sickness always seems to ramp up this time of year, and luckily for us, the only under we’re feeling is on tonight’s NHL picks. We have a couple of nationally televised games on tap, featuring the Panthers against the Capitals in the early game and the Kings battling the Golden Knights in the nightcap. These games between familiar foes are often a recipe for a good UNDER play, and we sure have plenty of them for you tonight.

Alexander Ovechkin continues to try and track down Wayne Gretzky as the NHL’s all-time leading goalscorer, but he’s seen plenty of struggles in the new campaign on a team that can’t score. That hasn’t been a problem for the Panthers, however, who are instead having a hard time keeping pucks out of their own net. That battle between two underperforming units will give way to the action in Vegas between two of the league’s best in the early going as a new rivalry continues to add more chapters to the story. These games are giving us plenty of chances to find the green on SuperDraft, who we hope to be requesting payment from later tonight.

SuperDraft users can win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. If all four of the props below hit, users will win 10x their entry. In other words, a $20 entry fee will yield a $200 payout. the more legs you add to your player prop parlay, the larger your potential payout becomes, but as the long odds indicate, completing a clean sweep is challenging.

Below, we’ll break down four of our favorite player props for Wednesday night’s NHL slate. Users don’t necessarily have to parlay all four picks together, though. Instead, you could make separate two-legged parlays to increase your win probability or attempt to hit it big if all four picks come through.

Best NHL prop bets today: SuperDraft player prop picks for Wednesday

*10x potential payout if users parlay all four correct picks

1. Alexander Ovechkin, LW, Capitals vs. Panthers — UNDER 4 shots on goal

Part of what makes a great player great is when the opposition can’t stop something they know is coming. NBA teams know that Steph Curry is going to shoot long threes, but they can’t stop it. NFL teams know that Travis Kelce is going to find the soft spot in the zone and sit down waiting for Patrick Mahomes to find him, but they can’t stop it. NHL teams know that Ovechkin will shoot the puck from, “his office,” and they can’t stop it either. This Ovi isn’t the same Ovi we’ve come to know over the years. He has two goals in 10 games and has gone UNDER this number in three of the past four. He’s facing a Panthers team that has allowed the third-fewest shots on goal this season. Funny enough, Ovechkin’s Capitals have only been able to muster up the third-fewest shots on goal from an offensive standpoint. His shots aren’t getting through and Washington’s talent around him isn’t doing Ovechkin any favors. The Panthers should be able to handle their business fairly easily while keeping the Great 8 in check.

2. Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Panthers @ Capitals — UNDER 26.5 saves

As we just mentioned with Ovechkin, this is a battle of thirds. The team allowing the third-fewest shots is facing the team with the third-fewest shots. Those opposite ends of the spectrum spell trouble for Washington and Florida’s defense should keep this Capitals attack contained. As a result, that means fewer shots for Bobrovsky to save. Coming into this matchup, Bobrovsky is UNDER this number in three straight after going OVER in five of his first six to start the season. The netminder can kick back and relax on Wednesday night with shots instead being funneled to his opposite number on the other end of the rink.

3. Jack Eichel, C, Golden Knights vs. Kings — UNDER 0.5 assists

The UNDER party continues on Wednesday as we drop the puck on the TNT nightcap, which will see the Golden Knights host the Kings. Whenever the defending Stanley Cup champions are involved, we expect to see offense on the menu, but not in this case for Eichel. The top line center only has one assist in his past three games after recording seven in his first 10. More importantly, Eichel is facing a Kings team that is one of three to keep him off the scoresheet through the first 13 games. Eichel is a scorer at heart and plays on a top line with Ivan Barbashev and Jonathan Marchessault, and they’ve scored eight goals in their past five while registering just five assists. Vegas is also coming off their first regulation loss of the season after jumping out to a blazing 11-0-1 start. That collapse against the Ducks could loom large tonight thanks to the ebbs and flows of a long season. We like Eichel to score a goal rather than assist one if he finds his way into the box score.

4. Cam Talbot, G, Kings @ Golden Knights — OVER 25.5 saves

The Kings have allowed the second-fewest shots on goal thus far this season, but they are facing a Golden Knights group that has totaled the most. Similar to the Bobrovsky pick from earlier, these two teams are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Talbot has already battled the VGK this season and registered 30 saves in the outing. He’s also OVER this number in three of the past four and will get a $1 million performance bonus just by starting tonight’s game. If there’s one thing we can guarantee, it’s that the Golden Knights will shoot a ton in this game trying to avenge blowing a 2-0 lead to the Ducks in the third period just a few nights ago. Factor in that Talbot was also named one of the NHL’s three stars of the week for his 3-0 record, and we should see another masterpiece from the Kings’ netminder. At the very least, it will be enough to total 26 saves, which is all we care about.
